FROM OUR FOUNDER

Beauty Starts with Intention

I've always been drawn to beauty, skincare, fashion, and storytelling.

In 2020, I created BeingKeaLove as a space to document my journey of becoming — a place where I could show up authentically, share my experiences, and embrace every chapter of my evolution. At the time, I had no idea that journey would eventually lead me to create KeaBella SKIN.

KeaBella SKIN was born during one of the most transformative seasons of my life: pregnancy.

As I prepared to welcome my son into the world, I found myself reflecting on womanhood, identity, and the many ways we change throughout our lives. Pregnancy has a profound way of transforming not only the body and skin, but also the way a woman sees herself. It was during this season of growth that the vision for KeaBella SKIN began to take shape.

The name itself carries my story.

KeaBella combines Kea, my ethnic Sesotho name meaning "given" or "blessed with," and Bella, a nickname I was given during my university years, meaning "beautiful." Together, the name reflects a philosophy that sits at the heart of the brand: beauty is not something we chase — it is something we are already given.

I wanted to create products that would support women through every season of life — from moments of confidence and celebration to periods of change, healing, and rediscovery. Products that nourish, protect, and enhance our natural beauty while encouraging us to care for ourselves with intention.

KeaBella SKIN is deeply rooted in who I am: a Mosotho woman, a mother, a designer, an entrepreneur, and a believer in the quiet power of self-care.

More than skincare, KeaBella SKIN is a love letter to becoming.

ALCHEMY FROM HOME

Where It Began

Before there was KeaBella SKIN, there was a simple desire to create something meaningful.

Beauty has always been a part of my life, but I wanted to build a brand that felt personal — one that reflected identity, heritage, and self-care rather than trends.

As I continued building BeingKeaLove, I began to understand that beauty is about more than products.

It is about confidence.

It is about ritual.

It is about how we show up for ourselves every day.

That understanding became the foundation of KeaBella SKIN.

A brand inspired by the quiet luxury of caring for yourself intentionally.

The Birth of Le Balm

The first product I developed was Le Balm.

I wanted to create a product that solved a real everyday need — a lip treatment that could hydrate, nourish, protect, and enhance the natural beauty of your lips without requiring multiple products.

But I also wanted the product to carry meaning.

Naming it became part of that story.

Initially, I wanted to call it The Balm because, in my mind, it truly was the balm — the one product that could do everything your lips need.

However, the name was already in use.

As I searched for alternatives, I found myself returning to two important influences.

The first was my love for luxury beauty and fashion. Some of the world's most iconic beauty houses and fashion brands have French roots, and they were among the brands that first inspired my fascination with beauty, elegance, and craftsmanship.

The second was my appreciation for language and heritage. The development of written Sesotho is closely connected to French missionary societies that helped document and develop Sesotho orthography during the nineteenth century.

The word Le felt like a beautiful meeting point between those influences.

It connected luxury, language, heritage, and identity.

And so, The Balm became Le Balm.

A simple name carrying a deeper story.

Naming the Shades

Once the product name was established, I knew the shades themselves also needed meaning.

Every shade was intentionally named in Sesotho, reflecting both identity and culture.

Khubelu - Deep Cherry 🍒

A lip collection would never feel complete without red.

Khubelu represents confidence, sophistication, elegance, and timeless beauty.

Our deep cherry tint is bold, classic, and effortlessly refined.

Bofubelu - Rosey Pink

For those who prefer a softer expression of red, Bofubelu offers warmth, femininity, and understated romance.

A deeper rose tone designed for everyday wear.

Khanya - Nude Glow

Khanya is named after my son.

In Sesotho, Khanya means shine.

It reflects the soft, natural glow that comes from confidence, joy, and becoming.

Subtle. Radiant. Effortless.

Naming the Shades

Once the product name was established, I knew the shades themselves also needed meaning.

Every shade was intentionally named in Sesotho, reflecting both identity and culture.

Sootho — Melanin Mocha

Our rich chocolate brown shade.

Sootho celebrates the depth and beauty of melanin while honoring the cultural roots of our people.

A shade created to feel grounded, warm, and beautifully familiar.

Monghali — Clear

Inclusivity was always important to me.

I wanted to create something that could be used by anyone — regardless of gender, age, or personal style.

In Sesotho, Monghali means Mr., Sir, or Gentleman.

This clear balm is simple, effective, and approachable.

A reminder that self-care belongs to everyone.
